As far back as 1871, the "Gasthof zur Linde" (Lime Tree Inn), as it was then known, was offering food and drink to guests, who were served by the landlady "Tante Bill" (Aunt Bill), wearing a local-style Grafschafter bonnet and white apron. The name came from a natural landmark, the village's 400-year-old lime tree, which fell victim to a storm in 1964.
Maria & Elmar Welling took over the Linde in Repelen in 1984 after a complete redesign and the addition of over 30 hotel rooms and four function rooms. A new lime tree was planted, which has now grown to an impressive size. The company's growth has followed a similar path.
The first phase of the extension was carried out in 1997, when the main building was joined to the neighbouring farmhouse and the many individual rooms in the Lindenhäuschen were created. The garden was also transformed into several small terraces and the large chestnut tree was planted.
The hotel site was then extended in 2000/2001, with the construction of 26 hotel rooms and suites in the Creative range, a seminar centre, the wellness area and the lobby.
The dining experience offered by the Linde in the atmosphere of an upmarket inn has been steadily restored and expanded over the years with great attention to detail and in a variety of ambiences. We have successfully combined history with the modern zeitgeist with a great deal of sensitivity.

The Welling family bought the farm site with the manor house and outbuildings, covering a total area of more than 3 hectares and in an idyllic location on the outskirts of Neukirchen-Vluyn, in the late summer of 2006.
From that point on, we used every spare minute to fell and plant trees, clear weeds and reorganise the site – as we usually do – to transform this property into a small paradise.
After many months of intensive work, the Lindenhof is now used for outdoor activities such as archery, 'Boßeln' (a ball game) and boules, while exclusive conferences are held at the manor house.

In August 2008 we had the opportunity to expand our business by buying a third hotel.
After four and a half months of complete renovation, Wellings Parkhotel opened in Kamp-Lintfort in January 2009, offering 60 hotel rooms and 9 differently designed rooms for parties and meetings just 4 km from Repelen.
Classic elegance is combined with state-of-the-art comfort. The exclusive ambience has been created with great care for an exceptional sense of wellbeing. In contrast to the Linde, this hotel boasts magnificent proportions and will impress you with the special atmosphere of its charming park, which has a lake and the seminar garden.
But things aren't standing still here either. We are constantly changing and expanding. The divine suites in Haus der Alleen were created in 2011, while Restaurant Sommergarten and the beautiful lakeside terrace were built and redeveloped in 2012. The hotel is increasingly becoming a local recreational site for the Lower Rhine area.
